Commercial considerations...
We visited my banker today. She offered us a lovely cup of tea ("cuppa") and while we were chatting away in her office we got us loads'o accounts - no less than FIVE - as follows:
All thanks to the good folks at HSBC. Of course Marielle already has multiple banking relationships in Holland, but those are there and she's gonna be living here.
We both were very surprised at how accommodating HSBC was to Marielle - especially the credit card! (so perhaps I don't have to take my plastic to Vegas then huh babe?)
The accounts are presently setup in her maiden name but once we're back from Vegas we just show my banker the marriage license and shey'll change Marielle's last name on the paperwork and plastic.
Well done HSBC!
- Joint current and savings accounts, to be used to run the flat (current account) and to save for mutual acquisitions / holidays / etc (savings account)
- Marielle got a current and savings account of her own, separate from my existing accounts
- Marielle got a credit card of her own
